Restoring US settings to your OBC after power loss
To reset to the appropriate units of measurement, press AVG
MPG. Next, using a ballpoint pen, press the changeover contact
button (the little button located on the lower right corner)
once for American units, twice for Imperial (M/G), and again
for metric(L/100). Press any other keypad button to set the
units and exit.
Resetting service indicator lights via "jumper" method
You will need a 6" piece of 16-18 gauge wire, stripped
about 1/4" at both ends. Next unscrew the cap on the diagnostic
plug. Insert each end of wire into the holes highlighted in
RED in the diagram below. Place the key in the ignition and
turn it to the ON position. The strip of green lights should
all illuminate. Wait about 5 seconds, until all the green lights
go out. Remove the key from the ignition, remove the wire, and
replace the cap. Please use at your own risk. The author is not responsible
for any damage you cause to your own car with this procedure.
"Special" Snap-On spark plug socket for the S14
The Snap-On plug socket with rubber insert part number is S9727K.
They're $25.50 each from the Snap
on website. Your local dealer price may differ. (I bought
mine locally for $24)
NEWS FLASH: It
appears that Snap-On have discontinued this socket (bastards!).
I will search out an alternate solution and update this information.
